Baseline
- Fade now temporarily removes all your threat.
- Mass Dispel now costs 13% of base mana, down from 38% of base mana. Now has a 15 sec cooldown.
- Void Shift is no longer a talent. Now has a 6 min cooldown. You and the currently targeted party or raid member swap health percentages. Increases the lower health percentage of the two to 25% if below that amount.
Talents
- Cascade absorb has been reduced by 66%. Now scales from 97.5% of Spell Power, down from 261.3%.
- Divine Insight Discipline and Holy bonuses have been reworked. Discipline – When you cast Spirit Shell, there is a 40% chance your next Power Word: Shield will both ignore and not cause the Weakened Soul effect. Holy – When you cast Greater Heal, there is a 40% chance your next Prayer of Mending will not trigger its cooldown, and will jump to each target instantly.
- Divine Star now is instant cast, down from 0.25 sec cast. Base damage/healing has been reduced by 28%. Now scales from 32.5% of Spell Power, down from 65%.
- Feathers From Heaven is now Angelic Feather.
- From Darkness, Comes Light now has a 2 Charges limit.
- Halo is now Instant, down from 2 sec cast. Base damage reduced by 50%. Now scales from 195% of Spell Power, down from 390%.
- Mindbender *New* – Creates a Mindbender to attack the target. Caster receives 6% mana when the Mindbender attacks. Damage taken by area of effect attacks is reduced. Lasts 15 sec. 4 min cooldown. Can be cast in Shadowform.
- Twist of Fate has been reworked – After damaging or healing a target below 20% health, you deal 15% increased damage and healing for 10 sec.
Holy
- Chakra: Chastise now Increases the damage done by your Shadow and Holy spells by 15%, grants a 10% chance for Smite to reset the cooldown of Holy Word: Chastise, reduces the mana cost of Smite and Holy Fire by 75%, and transforms your Holy Word spell back into Holy Word: Chastise.
- Greater Heal base healing has been reduced by 17%. Now has a 2.5 sec cast time, down from 3 sec.
- Serendipity – When you heal with Binding Heal or Flash Heal, the cast time of your next Greater Heal or Prayer of Healing spell is reduced by 20% and mana cost reduced by 10%. Stacks up to 2 times. Lasts 20 sec.
Shadow
- Vampiric Touch base damage has been reduced by 75%. Now scales from 37.6% of Spell Power, down from 62.6% of Spell Power.
- Borrowed Time – Grants 15% spell haste for your next spell after casting Power Word: Shield. Lasts for 6 sec.
- Meditation now allows 25% of mana regeneration to continue, down from 50%.
- Rapture – When your Power Word: Shield is completely absorbed or dispelled you are instantly energized with mana equal to 150% of your Spirit. This effect can only occur once every 12 sec.
- Spirit Shell now costs 6% of Base Mana, up from 2%. Now has a 1.5 sec cast time, down from 3 sec. now absorbs (32,648 + 219.0% of SP) spell damage. Healing now procs when the shield expires or is dispelled.
Major Glyph
- Glyph of Fade now causes your Fade ability now also reduces all damage taken by 10%.
- Glyph of Penance now Increases the mana cost of Penance by 20% but allows Penance to be cast while moving.

The Amputation of Discipline
« Amputation » is a strange word in this context. Is it the new gutted?I think you guys can tell what we’re trying to do with Spirit Shell. We want Disc to have a spammable absorb that isn’t as powerful as the instant Power Word: Shield. Spamming an instant absorb is just really hard to balance, which is why we have constantly had to nerf it over the years. We want a model where Disc can cast Spirit Shell often, and use PW: Shield for more critical cases… much like a Flash Heal. Currently on beta, Spirit Shell is lackluster because it’s trying to fill the Heal role, but that’s never going to be a really exciting role for a spell. We are going to try letting it fill the Greater Heal role instead. It should absorb for a lot, and if the absorb expires or is dispelled, then the heal will still kick in.
We agree that Rapture was a cool mechanic for Discipline, and we’d like to add it back, but have it scale with Spirit, so that Disc priests don’t neglect Spirit on their gear (or worse, get mad at us when priest gear that they share with Holy has Spirit on it).
We have already changed PW:Barrier to have a mana cost similar to Divine Hymn. We want to lower the mana cost of Mass Dispel, but it is so potent with the new dispel model that it may require a cooldown to compensate. Mana costs as a whole are something we are going to continue to adjust. I said last week that we thought heal costs were in a good place, but then folks running through dungeons and raids told us they couldn’t cast their big heals, so something isn’t quite right. Remember the goal is for mana management to be more forgiving than it was in early Cataclysm, but not be irrelevant in later tiers. If it doesn’t feel that way yet, then it is just because we still have more work to do.
We still have some other changes to make. We’re not happy with some of the priest talents yet, and the glyphs aren’t finished. The glyph of Penance is pretty unappetizing. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Priest Feedback
Did you realize you can take the individual buttons out of a « pop out » like Chakra and put them anywhere on your bar that you would like? We’ll consider the stance bar implementation, but we want to get more players trying it first.What is the reason behind the increased mana cost for certain spells? Particularly holy word: chastise which on live costs about 7.8k but in beta it’s around 15k. Also, mass dispell’s mana cost shot up to 45k, which is almost half of the finite mana pool that priests now have.
Chastise is probably an oversight. Off the top of my head, I can’t imagine why it would need to be more expensive. Mass Dispel is expensive because under the new dispel model, it is very powerful. We want priests to use normal dispel some instead of letting Mass solve every problem.Also, would you consider removing the mana cost for power infusion? Most of the newer priest talents (save the top tier talents) like void shift, etc. use cooldowns rather than mana.
Power Infusion probably doesn’t need a cost. I’ll discuss it with the team.P.S. I should add that we completed a big audit of heals (for all classes) recently, and concluded that the mana costs were reasonable for the most part but that the heals were much too small for the Mists health pools. We buffed all of the heals quite a bit. We want mana to be less painful than it was at the start of Cataclysm, but we want it to matter more than it did at the end of Cataclysm. We want the slope of the line to be less steep — your higher throughput and regen in later patches will still make heals more efficient overall, just less so than they became in Dragon Soul. - Divine Star: Reworked: Fires a Divine Star in front of you, traveling 20 yds, causing 1849 to 3081 Divine damage to all enemies and 1 healing to all allies in its path. After reaching its destination it will return to you, also dealing damage and healing to all targets in its path. Now has a 15 sec cooldown, 30 yd range, and costs 7% of base mana.
- Halo: New. Creates a ring of Holy energy around you that quickly expands and grows in power, up to 30 yds away. Deals up to 18487 to 30811 Holy damage to enemies, and up to 0 healing to allies, with the greatest effect at 25 yds. 28% of Base Mana, 30 yd range, 2 sec cast, 60 sec cooldown.
- Cascade: New. Launches a Holy bolt at the target that grows in power as it travels, which causes up to 13557 damage to an enemy, or up to 13557 healing to an ally. This effect can bounce from allies to other allies, or from enemies to other enemies. Each time it bounces it will split into 2 bolts, preferring farther away targets, and never hitting the same target twice. Cascade can bounce up to 4 times. 14% of Base Mana, 40 yd range, Instant, 25 sec cooldown.
Discipline
- Atonement: Now also works with Penance.
- Spirit Shell: Shield absorbance increased to 9343, up from 5231.
